“Scenes from Quarantine” is what I am calling a few days of documentary photography that I took of my 2 year old son in April of 2020, one month after the stay at home order had been put into place. We were happy to be home together, but he was definitely missing social interaction and his daily routine. Our new routine was sleeping in, making breakfast together, then trying to keep ourselves somewhat occupied and entertained while my husband was locked away upstairs, now working from home.

At first I thought maybe these images are just boring and really nothing special. But the more I look at them, the more I really like them. You feel the sense of boredom, which has a bit of beauty in itself. But you also see some joy and more importantly, what this strange time looked like for many only children.

I decided to break it up into two parts, indoors and outdoors. Here are a few shots from inside the house on a regular afternoon.

I’d love to see a glimpse into your quarantined life. Not everyone was lucky enough to be able to stay safe at home. And although many of your days looked like ours, I know the experience has been very different for many people. Especially the ones on the front lines helping us stock up and fight this virus. I want to share a quick thank you from all of us, we couldn’t get through this without you.
